Mother India, New Delhi

At Connaught Place, New Delhi.

Bhaiyadooj it was, so, I and my family decided to have a super lunch at a good restro.

Based on the ratings on Zomato, we decided to give “Mother India” a try.

Since there were 7 of us, we ordered a Mix South Indian platter for the starters named “Rajnikanth Veg Platter” and one starter corn dish – “Sarafa Bazar Bhutte Ki Chaat” along with some drinks.

Rajnikanth Veg Platter – This platter had Paneer 65, Cauliflower 65, Mushroom Pepper Fry, Golkonda Balls and some Fried Onion and Mirchi Pakoras.

This platter had one thing in common which turned out to be worst – every dish that I named above in this platter just tasted too salty. Because of this excessive amount of salt, the actual taste of the dish was subsided and everything tasted bad.

Sarafa Bazar Bhutte Ki Chaat – This was an average dish. Crispy corns with a little spice added to them.

Drinks-

Virgin Classics Watermelon Mojito, Virgin Classics Apple Mojito, Aagre ka Jal Jeera & Hare Nimboo ki Shikanji

All the drinks were okay but Aagre ka Jal Jeera just stood out.

Since we had a very unpleasant starter experience, we decided to order not much when it came to the main course.

Below is my take on all the main course dishes we had:

Rajasthani Thali– It was just average when it came to taste. If someone actually wants to have that feel of Rajasthani food, a speciality Rajasthani restro is your go-to destination.

Plain Rawa Dosa– This was moderate too, nothing great about this.

Chowrangee Kathi Roll – This northeast dish which we ordered just tasted terrible and had an extreme amount of salt in it. It was not at all edible and we were all very disappointed. I guess the restro people were in guilt seeing us and gave us a complimentary dessert – Gulab Jamun

Chicken Chettinad with Malabar Parantha– Another hellfire dish that made us question our choices. It was bitter and lacked taste. Not recommended.

CONCLUSION:

Food: 2/5

Service: 3/5 [Quick and good]

Ambience: 3/5 [Rustic and has a nice feel to it]

TBFC's SCORE: 2.5/5

I really am wondering how this restro got this great rating because all I felt was that it really advertised salt so much that all their dishes had it in extreme amounts.
